Overdue post about my Taiwan trip with besties4lyfe1992. Something I really needed after all this A'Level humbug and not seeing April for a year!

Went with the family to there on the 21st before joining April and Yitong on the 28th. Bunked in at April's in 永春 from then all the way to 5th Jan. Good company, food and cool weather, what else need I say?

九份 was pretty fab! It's a small town on a hill. Spent half a day there just eating and touring the place. There were a lot of Japanese influence in the buildings in that small town. Lotsa jap tourists as well! Apparently it was the scenic spot used as background inspiration for one of the Spirited Away movies!

Got the news that my surgery will be tomorrow morning at 9:30am and I'm rather terrified. Then again, I morbidly hope that the memory-loss side effects of GA actually come true. It's screwed up, but I rather forget you, than remember anything at all.

Don't say things you don't mean.

It's not that I want to ignore whatever you rant about, it's just that you discredit yourself so much, I no longer can believe anything you say. Sometimes I just want to shake you so hard, or if I had the power of Legilimency, I'd plant a experience of a loved one dying in your head, just so you can wake up your idea.

All these deep shite coming from me is rather credible. Being at the receiving end of your parent's divorce can really make you grow up. Yeah you can brush my logic off as being too pragmatic, or too realistic. But thats life, it's real so please don't kid yourself. I had to grow up quick, because, even without anyone passing on the baton, I know that I'm personally responsible for my family.

I may be too realistic, harsh and critical of people I care about because I love you. I cannot tolerate naivety, irresponsibility, shoddy excuses, superficiality and shallow characters.

I am boring most of the time, not wanting to shisha, smoke, club, have a one-night-stand, not buying things on impulse and being too judgmental. Why? Because if I do all those "bad things" excessively, I wouldn't be able to face my parents and brothers. Just because I have expectations that I intend to live up to, doesn't give you a right to judge me because you simply have less responsibility.

One simple example is smoking.

Why do I have no respect for smokers? Because I don't buy their bullshite about it being an outlet of stress-relief. You can't trick me into believing that you don't have any other options or relaxing, one that's not physically harmful. Smoking is bad and you know it. It's been on TV, primary school Health Ed books, campaign leaflets and even your cigarette box. So don't lie and tell me that you're not aware. You are just bloody ignorant and naive.

And for all those who know the horrible effects, I have even less (if that's possible) respect for you. If you don't treasure your life and want to asphyxiate yourselves to death, then by all means. However, for every puff of smoke, you're killing the pregnant lady who walks past, putting her foetus in danger. You're killing your family that lives under the same roof. You're killing your wife who has to literally, "watch you commit suicide", despite it being a slow and gradual process.

For smokers out there who aren't trying to quit, I will never award you the privilege of using the word "love". By smoking, you've taken away all capacity for you to love. You might say you love your girlfriend and don't puff nicotine air into her face and shorten her life. On the other hand, you don't really love her because by endangering your life, you're shortchanging her love for you. Each cigarette would mean that she has a few minutes less life to spend with you. By being the bane of her existence and still smoking, you're killing her reason of happiness and life.

Just because you don't see, or choose not to see the effects of smoking, doesn't mean it is non-existent. I don't buy bull about God or whoever's up there to decide how long you live. You can't tell the future, so by smoking, you might be cheating yourself of a longer life.

If you don't love yourself, you can't love anyone else.

If you love and care for others, you wouldn't hurt them even with a knife at your throat. So why are you smoking and killing yourself when you know how sad/depressed/hurt they would be to see you dead.

I don't smoke because I love life, I love my family, and I love my friends. One minute less of my life would mean a minute less being able to make them happy.

I don't smoke because I want to be able to set a good example for my brothers.

I don't smoke because I don't want to indirectly cause other people to have lung cancer.

I don't smoke because if people die by my second-hand smoke, I wouldn't be able to live with myself.

I don't smoke because I have no right to end my own life.

I don't smoke because my parents would be sad to see me puffing my life away.

I don't smoke because with that money, I could do charity and make other people happier.

I don't approve of people smoking because it's a lousy excuse for anything and everything.

I don't smoke because as I shorten my life, there are people on hospital beds fighting for the very thing I give up so carelessly.

I don't smoke because I have a choice.

I choose to be healthier by having other stress-relief methods.

I choose to be a role model to my brothers.

I choose to shoulder the responsibility of being a pseudo-homemaker/sister/student/daughter/friend all at the same time.

I choose to be pragmatic because of all the extra money saved, I can help the less fortunate.

I choose to look at the big picture that my own small problems because there are others worse off.

I choose not to smoke because I don't want to take the shortcut and shortchange myself of life.

I choose to love life and always look on the bright side.

I choose to eat oats for breakfast because I have the good fortune of having brain-food at home.

I choose not to be picky and waste food because there are parts of the world suffering from famine.

I choose to drink warm beverages because I believe they are healthier.

I choose to not succumb to peer pressure because no one I care about would love me less.

I choose to be mentally resilient because I have so much more to live for.

I choose to pick myself up after every fall because if I don't, no one else can.

I choose not to wallow in self-pity (having a "broken family", or not being physically attractive enough) because that's not going to help me get through life.

I choose my choices, and if that makes me a little more boring, somewhat too practical, extremely cynical and profoundly unsympathetic and ultimately very judgmental, then I grant you the right to dislike and judge me because I really couldn't care less.

Just a short one, to let you know I'm currently alive and all. It's raining and I'm supposed to have a math mock paper in an hour, so hopefully it'll let up by then.

These few weeks have been such an emotional roller-coaster, what with the emotional breakdowns and nervousness. So to those whom I haven't spoken to in a month/day/year, do know that you're all still on my mind and I love you!

Howdy fellow no-lifers (or not).

Just a heads-up to let you know I'm not dead (yet) and spend my days (or lack thereof) biting dust amongst my books at home and occasionally at siglap starbucks.

Anyway prelims are ending tomorrow with a chem mcq paper (which will be a killer no doubt). Yet I'm not feeling rather ecstatic perhaps due to the looming As which are as scary as ever. Prelim results are really really (like seriously) not looking good and I hope to get them in shape by As although it's quite hard to not feel helpless at times.

So what do I do with all the pent up and never-ending stress? Besides sleeping?

After reading Runaway and having my heart wrenched out and left bleeding, I am in no mood to mug.

No author has managed to touch me with such raw passions and naked emotions. These are my two favourite characters and pairing in fanfiction. reading of how they come together after a different war with the loss of Harry, Ron and most of the Weasleys was quite difficult, but made it closer to reality. Draco's death made me feel like dying, especially from Hermione's POV.

It was like a sneak glimpse for me, of what I would experience facing the death of the person I give my heart to.

This fanfiction is my undoing.
I can still taste the saltiness of my dried tears. How will I be able to entrust this bleeding organ of mine to anyone will be beyond me after reading this story.

I will never find mr perfect.

It's such a shocker, but I should've known deep down that I'll never be able to find mr. Perfect, let alone mr right.

Maybe these whimsical fantasies of mine are only in the spur of the moment, but if that's the case, then I've been having one too many spur of the moments in my life.

Recently I've gotten myself hooked back onto fanfiction regarding draco and hermione (ikr like whuuuuuud sherri, fanfiction, really?). But by god I swear by that pair. All the stories about them never fail to move me, instilling such sadness in the revelation that I will never be able to find my draco malfoy.

A person with such great imperfections, but yet what greater potential and capacity to use it to love hermione in all imperfection. I want a draco malfoy who'd be close friends with me, slightly flirtatious at times, but dependable all the same. He needs to be unrestrained and all out when making friends with me (the opposite sex). His imperfections would lie in his dirty and incredibly horny mind, and self-awareness of his wants. By god would he be beautiful.

I need him to be so confused with his feelings, unsure whether it's love he's really feeling, for he was never taught to identify it with such cold upbringing. Under that cold demeanor, would be the mistaken identity of drive, passion and determination. Care would be something foreign to him, yet something he'd learn during the times we spend together.

I want the thought of love to baffle and intrigue him, after all, all that cynic was just his innocent and naïve self retaliating to this cruel reality. I want him to have a hard time saying "I love you", and yet not denying that he burns with such desire for me physically. I want electricity at every touch. And I want him to touch me like the cassanova he is, in desperate search of love.

Lately, there's been a surge in boy-problems within my close circle of friends, idk for what reason and why is it ALL suddenly popping up at this point of time!

I mean, I really don't understand why would anyone get into a relationship to feel secure/loved/happy. Why depend on someone else to feel secure? Why let someone else decide if you are worth being loved? And most of all, WHY WOULD YOU PUT YOUR HAPPINESS INTO SOMEONE ELSE'S HANDS?!!

Would you really be much happier that way? Like the Hong Kong dollar, pitting itself against the US dollar, affected by every move in the US economy. So restricted, so constrained, so bounded.

For all the ladies out there:

It's time to start doing things for yourself! Be a little selfish, it's okay!
Choose to be happy for yourself, know that you deserve love in every way possible, and those who don't realize it, it's their loss. You need to be strong for yourself, only then can you be a pillar of support for people around you.

Become a person worthy of love, for yourself. Don't let your confidence be based on how much another loves you. It's easier said than done, yes I know. But give yourself the chance and challenge, stretch your own limits.

You don't need a guy to tell you that you're beautiful, that you're smart, that you're worth loving, just because for the mere fact that one day, it might all seem like lies. And when that day comes, would your confidence and courage turn to dust? As fleeting as he left you, happiness will also go if you made him your world.

Love yourself, only then will you be able to love others without doing yourself injustice.

And pertaining to guys, I've kinda lost my faith in them, that there's actually decent guys out there, but after reading my new blog love (Thought Catalog), I've realized that I've been looking at the wrong type of guys all along.

"There seems to be this undercurrent of asshole-loving lately; my peers justifying their ill-advised decision to partner with people they believe can and will ‘change.’ I’m all about personal preference, but it seems that while the Nice Guy/Asshole debate rages on, no one has stood up for the Good Guys.

When I was younger (whatever age you are when people actually sign yearbooks), there was this one descriptor that people always included when signing my autograph book or what-have-you. ‘Sweet.’ “Stay sweet, Stephanie,” or “You’re such a sweet girl.” It’s funny; I don’t think anyone has called me ‘sweet’ since I was thirteen, probably – but at the time, it was a recurring theme. I was sweet.

I don’t believe I’m inherently ‘unsweetened’ now, but I’ve developed somewhat of an acerbic tinge. I won’t shy away from expressing my opinion (unless I’ve predetermined that my opponent will likely refer to out-of-context talking points that they picked up from Rush Limbaugh – in that case, I won’t waste my breath). I am a master of dirty looks, the silent treatment, and making apparent when someone’s actions are unacceptable. I can, at times, be a raging bitch.

These two polarizing aspects of my personality (along with many others) coexist peaceably. I try to be thoughtful, I do nice things for other people because I want to, I am genuine when expressing emotion (OMG I know, earnestness, gross!). But I also won’t take your crap, and if you give me enough of it, I will peace out of your life and I will not regret it. Count on that. I am capable of being a warm blanket of golden light, but I’m also capable of being a laser beam that will effing cut you. In other words, I am the nice guy. And I am the asshole. We all are, to some degree.

Which is why, when given the choice, I want to date a Good Guy. I want someone who is a real, flawed human being – someone who, despite those flaws, makes the conscious, ongoing effort to act benevolently toward the people around him. Because there is no such thing as An Asshole and A Nice Guy and if that’s all we can say about these people, what they really are is An Actor. A one-dimensional character whose actions are motivated by the desire to project a controlled, steadfast image to the world.

I do not want to fix someone. I’m too busy working on myself. I wouldn’t want to date someone who isn’t doing the same, who doesn’t see the value in growth. I’m not here to hold someone’s hand while they learn how to grow up. I’m not a pre-school teacher; I’m not a therapist. A man is not an art project to be cut up into little pieces and glued back together. You’re your own fixer-upper, honey; do with that what you will.

I want to be with someone who respects me, someone who I can respect. I do not want to tote around some unruly asshole, a discount handbag that looks impressive on the outside but is really falling apart at the seams. This would be a reflection of my own bad taste and insecurity, dating some mess of a person who doesn’t use the words, ‘Please’ and ‘Thank You,’ someone who has no consideration for other people. I don’t want to introduce that person to my friends, or to my family – who all happen to be Good People who have a low tolerance for assholes.

I don’t want to date someone indifferent to themselves or to me. Is it an oddity that I don’t want to be treated like crap? I do not have time to hopelessly await someone’s phone call; I do not have time to place heaps of unwarranted blame on myself when someone or something seemingly ‘disappears.’ I don’t have the time to jump through hoops to prove that I am worthy of someone’s affections, and even if I did have the time? That’s not how I would spend it.

No, I want a Good Guy – someone who is a good person before I date him, while I date him, and after I date him.

Someone who is capable of letting go of whatever Grave Injustices were done to him, who doesn’t blame the world for his misfortunes. Someone who respects himself, who wants to be with someone who will treat him the way he deserves to be treated. Someone who is nice but not a doormat, someone who is confident but not an asshole. Someone who gets to date a Good Person by being one, not by appealing to a girl’s desire to ‘fix’ their self-perpetuated damage.

So, to the ladies who want assholes, keep them. I’ll take the sane, emotionally stable man any day."

Watched this amazing movie with Eileen, Minlin and Estee today credits to HBL!

Really good graphics no doubt about that, and I may even consider going for 3D in cinemas too. Was absolutely impressed by the "protection of hogwarts" and Voldemort's acting. His eyes for Harry actually looked lovesick at one point in time!

But the whole movie was ruined by my incessantly persistent tummy ache, so much so that I had to duck out of the cinema and to the toilets for sweet relief halfway )':

Had a talk in school today about admission into Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) which left me super excited and determined to apply and hopefully secure a place there!

The big 3 universities really don't appeal much to me. The prospect of continuing this mundane studious life really makes me wna puke! Hence after I heard that SUTD places emphasis on entrepreneurship, management and design, I AM CONVINCED! What more with a small cohort so we'll know everyone on campus, unlike jc life where a cohort has about 1000 strangers.

Want to study product design there but I guess I'll need a backup plan if all fails. SMU is the next best uni that appeals to me with project-based learning but idk what I'll choose to study there though.

So I guess SUTD will be my motivational factor to strive and work extra hard for prelims and the As. Excited for my future teehee!

On a side note, I PASSED MATH!!!!!!!!!

Okay, now I just have to pray hard for the rest of my papers ^^

Dear Danial,

It's almost been a month since we've stopped talking but I feel that this is the appropriate time to for this blogpost. I don't know if you still read this space, but I hope you do see this somewhere, somehow.

3 years together with you has been full of ups and downs, so much happiness, so many problems. It's saddening to say that we knew this would end someday, but just kept on dragging it, refusing to face facts.

I've grown so much with you but there are some things that will never change. I've never regretted having all those moments, fleeting as they were, created memories enough to last me a whole lifetime. The only thing I regret is letting you go, knowing that I'll never ever be able to find someone who adores me as much as you.

Adore is the most suitable word I can find to describe what you've given me all these years. So much boundless love irregardless of how I hurt you, what I wore, how heavy I am and how I look. It was like a dream come true to have someone like you love me when I felt my ugliest, had moments of deep desperation and when my heart bled like it wouldn't survive tomorrow.

You've been my strength that never failed me. Strength you didn't even know you gave me when I felt so disappointed with myself, felt like I have failed my brothers, my family, I guess you understood perfectly, being the older sibling in the family as well.

3 years has been the longest time I've been committed to someone, or rather, the longest time that anyone has been able to withstand me. But now that it's over, it gives me happiness to find that I'm actually worth being loved, being cared for and being cherished. There wasn't a moment in our relationship that made me lose faith that you loved me, never at all.

Just a small taste of heaven is enough, I won't be greedy or expecting anymore.

I hope that you'll come to believe and learn that you don't have to be anyone but yourself to make others happy. You don't have to try too hard and above all, you are worth being loved, so don't settle for any less. Learn to stand up to injustice just because you deserve more. Learn to be strong for yourself, even to those who love you. Got my thrift tortoise-shell spectacles at bedok for a steal of $35 with multicoated lens too ^^

Went in a few times just to try-look-pose and consider whether to buy them. Finally decided last friday and went to have my degree tested for the lens. GUESS WHATTTTTTTT YO?! My right eye has perfect vision now woohoo (a gradual drop over the years since P4 at 125 degrees) and my left eye is left with bout 50 degrees! Happy ttm but Dad couldn't believe it and kept saying it was impossible but I have paperwork to prove it mwahahahaha!

Anyway I want to thank all my darls who wished me a happy 19th and was there to celebrate with me xx

National museum with soleil last saturday for the Beauty in Black exhibit and then dinner with class to celebrate birthdays in april. I know I haven't been blogging all too often but I guess this year's gonna be like that, sigh.

Neither have I scanned the overdue photos from my previous roll of film (which turned out quite well!). Photo-overload is my current preferred style as they all say, a picture speaks a thousand words! (:

Ah well, aside from that, let's just say that all I feel day-to-day is anxiety and dread mostly in school cuz I have a lot of back-logged work to catch up on. Darn math tutorials (but thank god for forgiving teachers). Gained a bit of weight due to hunger pangs that happen too often, which in turn does not complement my lack of exercise.

SYF is on thurs and I'm quite void of feeling over that, just hoping that it'll go well (in whatever abstract sense of the word). Teehee I quite like my section cuz we're kinda livelier now.

Anyway, have you ever felt so disgusted with yourself? That the mere thought of what you've done never fails to send shudders down your spine? Well, I feel you.

God I wish there was a black hole six feet under that I could plunge into or please just give me amnesia.
There are so many fine lines in life that shouldn't be messed with, and you're one of them. Please learn to keep your hands off me because what you do is just repulsive. Like, HELLO it's a no-no to screw around with your relatives because that is practically incest so pray, keep your distance, or i'll elongate mine.
Urgh, I don't need to tell you every single aspect of my personal love life and do not EVER try to self-invite yourself in. I don't want it to escalate to the higher generation.

Went to Eleven @ Upper Penang Road ytd with the cousins, went to a gay club, Boom Boom and made awesome friends before settling down at a table at Eleven till about 3am. Was holeymoley crowded and we couldn't find parking space for quite a while. Safe to say, people in penang don't have anywhere else to go on a saturday night.
The empty spaces outside the clubs/pubs were littered with silver cafe tables that were filled with people and beer, up to the sidewalk. And is it just me and my cuz, or are the people there scrutinizing rather extremely at what we were wearing?
Pffffft superficial people what's wrong with yellow shorts and blue suede shoes?!

Anyway, as usual, all the clubs had something in common, people who couldn't dance and smoke. Thank god the groping didn't happen! Surprise surprise I hate beer, so settled on orange pulp and vodka. Got tipsy and had to pee, not a good combination with smoke clouding my thoughts too, but I survived.

Headed to Bravo for karaoke and to sober up, got home at about 5am and crashed headfirst into the pillow.

& that's how my most fun night during CNY went, cheers people.

My hair still smells of smoke now, even after 5 washes. (I think the alcohol made me dumber if that was possible)

I need sleep gna drive back to singapore at 6am yay me.

Chinese new year has been...............strange?

The first day was alright, with more unfamiliar faces and some effort to try to trace out the humongous family tree, but now I'm just stuck here at home with guests downstairs as I finish up The Social Network and contemplate if I want to go down and get all cozy with the rest whom I hardly know.

That desire to go out, make new friends and socialize has dwindled down quite a bit comparatively in the last few years. Maybe it's because the number of friends I have don't really matter anymore, just a few close ones will do.

I've been trying very hard to keep it all in and not feel like we're all just floating along it life, float together, then float apart. Everything I do sometimes makes me a stranger to the loved, and with each passing day, the differences in our aims, goals and behaviour are highlighted with a brighter colour.

It's getting harder to "go along" or "just accept and try to ignore it". I feel very alienated, but what really scares me is that I'm not scared about it.

Maybe it's just a little hot in here, maybe that's why I can hardly breathe.

Maybe this is all just mad mutterings, maybe they're what I really feel. Who knows?

I really need to get out of this country(ies) and find a new godforsaken life.

Today otw home, there were 2 very irritating indian guys aboard 16, talking at the top of their voices. They were sharing a pair of earphones (which were useless as their voices were louder) and were discussing how many/methods of getting girls to fall for them or various ones they made out with in clubs.

WOW I just amazed myself. HI FRIENDS I'M STILL ALIVE!
Just fyi, I'm in penang right now and didn't really have time to update after my hongkong trip! But let me just say that it was AWESOMEZ of course due to awesome company! These few people were the bane of my existence during the trip. There's truckloads of photos kudos to amanda's camera but I shall only upload select few (:
Gracebaby was my roomate and we didn't have much time to shop (only about 6 hours!) due to intensive rehearsal and practice times.
And I simply must comment on the unpredictable weather! We were only prepared for air-con temperature so you can imagine how we froze when the weather went down to about 6 degrees during practice! And we had to cope without a heater in the cold, it's like living my my house refridgerator. The next day, there were news reports of how the homeless in hk were dying due to the unexpected cold weather, extremely heartrending ):

What else did I bring away from this trip? Hongkongers are extremely rude!

I've been feeling rather blue these few days, looking at all the prom picture updates on my fb newsfeed and smacking myself for not being able to join their post As celebration. But then again, even if I were to graduate this year, there won't even be a proper prom from vj people anyway.

It doesn't help that I've been approached for jobs even while walking on the street.

Sigh, I've got to get the mugging rhythm in already, no time to lose. All of a sudden, I'm thinking of changing my aim of course to something in the business school. But is it too much of a jump? From law to bio-warfare, to biochemistry, to pharmaceutical, to social work, and now to business. I'm too fickle for my own good.

Anyway, I've been wanting to go overseas for uni, regardless of my results, probably UK or 2nd choice US. What's keeping me back from that goal (despite monetary concerns), are my brothers. God, I wish they'd listen to my grandmother, or have enough self-discipline with their computer games, psp and whatnots. Not having a mother is finally proving to be an issue.

On a side note, to update any kind santa out there who's on a budget:

I really want this pair of shoes however little use they will be to me. (they're only about 13 bucks on gmarket!)

Back from Genting and KL trip, no pictures this time ): because my brother is/was a lazyass cameraman.
Pfffft. Anyway, the first day we headed out from Imperial Sheraton KL for breakfast, my cuz almost got robbed by a snatch-thief on a motorbike waiting at the back of the hotel for easy prey. Thank goodness he elbowed the guy and prevented a choke-scenario where his big gold chain would be missing from an injured neck. What a wake-up call.

And just for fair warning, if you're going to genting, don't stay at the highland 5 star hotel. It's one of the oldest despite it's class, hence there've been alot of suicide cases there. My cuz, a former tour guide, said that the whole building is really "dirty".

Had a hell of a great time this week with the wedding and relatives from malaysia coming down (despite the 2 screamy kids).

Went shopping, universal studios and hard rock hotel which were fully sponsored by my cousin-in-law's mum! Imagine paying for dinner buffet at hard rock hotel for 35++ people and 2 nights stay for 5 rooms! Not to mention the 10 tix for USS. I got extra dirt during the tea ceremony as well.
